World Cancer Day is celebrated every year on February 4th across the world. It is a day that was initially organized to create awareness to the people about cancer and to motivate people to detect and prevent from it. This day, every common man pledge to continue searching something new treatment and ways to cure it. However, its central aim is to extremely reduce the occurrences of severe cancer illness and death by the year 2020.
Cancer Day Origin
World Cancer Day was initially organized in 1933 by Union for International Cancer Control. Thus, its origin can be traced all the way back, in Geneva, Switzerland, where they realized there was a basic awareness to share cancer knowledge across the world. Over the years, the cause for awareness among people advanced medical information in all areas that narrate to cancer. It aims to mobilize the solutions to cancer among individual, community and governmental and non-governmental levels. The idea for World Cancer Day initiated at the first World Summit against Cancer that was held in Paris, France. At this meeting, representatives attended from worldwide governmental agencies and cancer organizations signed the Charter of Paris Against Cancer Agreement. According to this charter sketched ten different points that outline how the global community is dedicated to enlightening the quality of life of cancer patients and pursuing an end to cancer itself. The tenth point of this charter founded the February 4th as World Cancer Day.
The Global Cancer Community
The Global Cancer Community organized the World Cancer Day, this year on February 4th, with the encouraging slogan “We can. I can”. The Pan American Health Organization – PAHO joins to promote and create awareness among people how everyone, together or individual, can help fight reducing the cause of cancer globally. It leads to focus on preventing cancer, reducing the risk factors, and controlling and improving access to early diagnosis and finally providing adequate treatment for cancer. The World Cancer Day 2018 campaign calls and events were organized and joint efforts again proved that by 2020 cancer marks will be reduced as much as possible. Everyone pledged and add their all the possible efforts along with the world governments, non-governmental organizations and civil society organizations to promote and encourage action and investments in areas comprising controlling tobacco, promoting healthy lifestyles, screening cancer, and early detecting, and improving cancer treatment services.

The main prevention against the cancer is to urge people to spread the word avoiding cancer-causing chemicals that are commonly used by us such as personal care products, for instance. Everyone is encouraged and openly invited to share their ideas, plans, and inputs to add something that can be done against cancer and prevent it from spreading to human beings.
